Winner!  "I Never Lost", from Up From The North, won in 2014 COMBO Songwriting contest in the Country category.

Winner "Best Country Band, 2014"
- Rocky Mountain Battle of the Bands

Nominated "Best Country Band, 2014"
- Westword Music Showcase Awards

"They have accumulated quite the following because their music begs people onto the dance floor, and this new record is memorable because it is one of the records that just makes you yearn to see the band play live. Up From The North is the last great record out of Denver in 2014."
- Colorado Music Buzz

Winner!  "A Life Ago", from A Lick & A Promise, won first place in 2013 COMBO Songwriting contest in the Americana/Folk category.

"Ryan Chrys & The Rough Cuts put on one of the day's best performances on the Strainwise stage."
- Colorado Music Buzz (Higher Ground Music Festival 2013)

"Chrys's deep vocal delivery recalls Shooter Jennings. Taking cues from outlaw-country pioneers like Waylon Jennings and Merle Haggard, Chrys and company lay down a collection of fueled-up twangy numbers alongside some heartfelt ballads."
- Westword

"This record is real honky-tonk country, the way it is supposed to be, not the mainstream pop-country crap that has been flooding the genre of late. Additionally, the fast-moving "fun" element that stands out on each song on the album screams with Colorado flavor."
- Colorado Music Buzz Magazine

"Frontman/guitarist, Ryan Chrys, was all over the place–jumping down into the audience, weaving between hot, sweaty people and making his way to the bar, which he jumped on top of to play for a good few minutes. With jewels in his scraggly beard glinting in the light, Chrys was a joy to watch, and the band as a whole was tight and had tons of energy."
- Westword Magazine

"Ryan Chrys' career as a Colorado musician has mostly been in the background of bands, until the guitar solo. He is a guitarist's guitarist, a country rock ax man. ...he's branched out on his own with A Lick and a Promise, an album of country rock songs.."
- Reverb, Denver Post

"At any given show, you may find him perched on one of the subs (or mains!), dressed to kill... One of his better stunts last year was to hook up wireless and walk Colfax during his act on the Musicians In Action outdoor stage during the Root 40 MusicFest."
- DenverOriginalMusic.com

"Everyone needs to catch the set by RYAN CHRYS & FRIENDS (of Demon Funkies). They will be a highlight of the event no doubt! Ryan has played all over this state and we are very excited to have them stop in."
- Herman's Hideaway

"4 out of 5 stars. Check this out man, you’re gonna love it. … It’s good to hear some local boys bring it back in a big way."
- Vail Daily

"Ryan Chrys on guitars and vocals is a standout."
- Colorado Music Buzz Magazine

"Ryan's great signature guitar playing and vocals are great....It'll bring a tear to your eye as only a true country song can!"
- RockOnColorado.com

"The album is good, and I'm sure it'd be even better coming out of the stereo in a old rusty pick-up."
- Marquee Magazine

"Ryan is part Johnny Cash and part John Lennon"
